Little Stars Room
“The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own desire to learn”………Maria Montessori
The Preschool rooms in Willow House Ashford has been created to be a peaceful and happy place where the developmental needs of each stage of growing up are met and encouraged.
The room contains many places for children to learn and play in different ways ; by themselves, in pairs, in small or large groups, inside and outside, at tables and on the floor.
They are taught through role playing activities and appropriate modelling. Bright and colourful equipment both playful and education are available for the children to use.
These include natural materials, cultural objects and an introduction to the world around them.
Some of the other characteristics taught through play are respect, kindness, independence, courtesy, freedom of choice and imagination. Child-led learning is all about following the child’s interests and signs of readiness for both academic skills and their own curiosities.
